Beautifully versatile large vintage Indian metal travel chest, rescued from a bygone era. These large metal chests could be found atop Indias railway trains across its sprawling network during Victorian and Edwardian times. Our metal chests are all original and vintage, mostly dated between 1900-1930. Today, they are repurposed as coffee tables that double up as storage spaces for books, newspaper and magazines, or to store children’s toys in bedrooms. They look great as living room coffee tables, or as trunks at the end of beds. They all have wonderful colour and patination – this one with green and cream patinated paint. This is clearly an old piece and there are some historic repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description.
