Description
High quality antique Indian teak wood ‘Veranda’ or Plantation Easy Chair from Southern India. These were widely found in the havelis and senior civil servant houses in the early part of the last century, as well as the tea plantation properties – from which they get their name. With extendable swing arms to allow for legs to be raised, whilst saving space when retracted, this is designed to create a comfortable resting position in the heat. A fine and early original example dates from around 1900. As with all antiques of approximately a hundred years old, there are signs of minor wear and tear as seen in the pictures, but it comes with a fantastic patina. This lovely chair would look great outside on a patio or decking, or in a hallway, and will be fine outside all year around as its teak hardwood. Dimensions: Length 57 x Width 74 x Height 82cm
