Description
Stunning set of original reclaimed Indian teak Jali shutter doors, originating from Rajasthan. These lovely old doors, with traces of old green paint, acted as a ‘first line of defence’ to houses in India and are over 100 years old. Jali is taken literally from the word ‘to see through’ created by the iron rails. They were secured in front of the main entry door in to the property to add an additional level of security, and come in a multitude of designs, colours and sizes. Commonly made from teak wood with iron bars they are very heavy and well made, designed to last another century or more. They have a fabulous look and patina and make a real impact in any environment ideal for use in the home or garden. Today these Jali doors are repurposed in the UK within the home, or also as exterior doors to create a grand entry point in to gardens, patio areas, terraces or walled gardens. This Jali Door, whilst fully functioning, strong and ready to hang, is in used vintage condition and there may be some age related marks, wear and tear and historic repairs. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description.
