Description
This larger than normal and extremely unusual and decorative pair of old nineteenth century teak dog gates were salvaged from an old building in Gujarat State and saved for future generations! They are nineteenth century originals (probably around 150 years old) and were used in front of the main entrance door of Gujarati Haveli to keep other animals out (and dogs in!). This pair have lots of fantastic old paint as well as the original old iron fittings, with fabulous patina and colour built up over centuries, which really shows its age and history. Dog Gates are now wonderfully repurposed as entry garden gates for old cottages and older buildings of all kinds, and seem to fit in well outdoors with houses of all ages in the UK. They are also used to create lovely entrances in to walled gardens, greenhouses, patio areas and terraces, and many of them are used for movie props too – recreating a bygone India! They are all absolutely fine outside and last well in the UK climate. These Dog Gates are saved from buildings in India which have fallen into a state of disrepair and are no longer repairable. Our Dog Gates, whilst fully usable, workable and with many years of life ahead of them, being made from hard teak wood, are in original condition, and clearly as old pieces, come with some historic repairs and age related repairs, marks and wear and tear as you would expect. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description. Dimensions: Width 53cm x Depth 3cm x Height 121cm.
